First Weeks in Germany

The ward members who greeted us
The flowers given me when they met us at the train sattion - how did they know i love orange and yellow?
The Kitchen is wonderful - once we learned how to work the appliances
This is our flat - we live on the bottom far right
The home was a School House built in the 1600's
This is a house on the corner wheree we live
The windows open so you can air out the house - mold is apparently a big problem
"On the street where you live"
The steeple of the Church a block from our home
The village grocery store
The Bakery across the street - way too convenient for those who lack self discipline

Farm lands near our home
Christmas stockings for the elders
Elder Stonehocker and Elder Herzog on Christmas Eve
One of the three windows letting lots of light during the day
Dad telling stories to the Elders

Auf Wiedersehen!

Thanks to Aunt Nancy for sharing these photos of Mom and Dad at the airport this morning.
 Sisters . . . such devoted sisters!
Not sure what caused Mom to make this face, but I'm pretty sure she'll kill us for posting it when she gets over her jetlag and sees it!
What will Brandon do without them?

We're Almost There

Guten Tag,

The countdown is here. 24 hours to take off. We're excited, scared, and grateful for this wonderful opportunity to serve in the Alpenländische Mission München. Thanks to each of you for your constant support and encouragement throughout this process.

Our first assignment is in Singen, Germany as Member and Leader Support missionaries. Singen is in Southwest Germany very close to the Swiss border. It is a branch in the Zurich Switzerland Stake. A new chapel was recently dedicated and they want to become a ward asap. We pray we can help. You may note this is different from our expected call to a Young Adult Program, but the call also said "our call could change if the President needs us to do something else." We're very excited to do just that.

The mission home address is:

Alpenländische Mission München
Lommelstrasse 7
81479 München
Deutschland

We will send the Singen address when we get there.

Warm regards,
Elder and Sister Gurney

Farewell

Brothers and Sisters,

Many have asked when we are leaving for our mission and the timing of the farewell. We go into the MTC on November 26 and leave for Munich, Germany on December 10. Our farewell is scheduled on November 25 at the Thanksgiving Village Ward at 9am. The address is 3679 N. Bluegrass Blvd. Lehi, Utah.

We know that all of you are involved in your callings and your families on this busy holiday weekend. We would not expect you to be there, but if we see you, we would be delighted. We welcome any of you to come to our home after 10:30 on Sunday to visit and say farewell.

We remain thrilled and excited about our mission call to the Alpine German-Speaking Mission which includes Switzerland, Austria and Southern Germany. Our call is to work with the Young Adults. Fifty years ago it was the best mission in the Church and it still is. We are working hard with tutors at the MTC learning and relearning this difficult language. Oh to be 19 years old again when what you learned stuck.

Warm regards,

Clint and Allyson

Our Mission Call!

Hooray!! We have finally received our mission call and are absolutely thrilled with anticipation and humbled as we look forward to the experience. We have been called to serve in the Alpine German Speaking Mission which includes Southern Germany, Austria, and most of Switzerland, headquartered in Munich. For Clint is is going back home as it includes the boundaries of his South German Mission of 51 years ago. Our assignment is for 18 months working in a Young Adult Center in one of the large cities. We enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo, November 26 and anticipate leaving for Germany around the first part of December.

Warm regards,
Clint and Allyson

Mission Call

We could not have been more surprised and excited - Southern Germany!
Yahoo - Grandpa's mission 50 years ago and more - Switzerland and Austria
This is a dream come true but never expressed or asked for.
Will you teach me all the German you know?
We have just two months to prepare - oh my goodness!
